Mining’s Toxic Legacy Initiative Update

The Sierra Fund has been progressing across the Sierra, making presentations and engaging in organizing activities. In the last three months we have made presentations, vaulable contacts and potential partners in 11 counties including: Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Tehama, Butte, Plumas, Placer, Sacramento, Yuba, Sierra and Nevada. The Initiative has gotten press coverage in at least six newspapers across the State including papers in Los Angeles, Kern, Mariposa, Amador, Nevada and Tehama Counties.

In addition to the upcoming program on Capital Public Radio, we have presentations scheduled for Chico, CA and Mono County as well as several other in the works.
