Assemblymember John Laird — Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on California Water Needs and Climate Change — today introduced Assembly Bill 2600, proposing to establish a State Conservancy to protect and restore the Sierra Nevada. The legislation, modeled on the successful Coastal and Tahoe Conservancies, directs $30 million in conservation monies to the proposed Sierra Conservancy from the 2002 Proposition 50 bond.
