Dr. Gray Brechin to be speaker at TSF’s Nov. Mining Summit

The Sierra Fund is proud to announce that Gray Brechin has agreed to speak at the upcoming “Community Mining Summit” planned for November 8 and 9, 2010 (note new dates!) in Nevada City, California.

Dr. Gray Brechin is an historical geographer, a frequent radio and television guest, and a popular public speaker. He is currently a visiting scholar in the U.C. Berkeley Department of Geography.  In 1999 he published “Imperial San Francisco:  Urban Power, Earthly Ruin”, a celebrated history of San Francisco that traces the exploitation of both local and distant regions by prominent families—the Hearsts, de Youngs, Spreckelses, and others—who gained power through mining, ranching, water and energy, transportation, real estate, weapons, and the mass media.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend this important event today!
