TSF serves as lead applicant for CABY IRWM Implementation Proposal

The Sierra Fund was honored to serve as lead applicant on the recently submitted proposal for a host of integrated water supply and water quality projects in the CABY (Cosumnes, American, Bear Yuba) region.

We worked closely with project sponsors including American Rivers, Camptonville Community Services District, City of Placerville, El Dorado Irrigation District, Nevada Irrigation District, Placer County Water Agency and the South Yuba River Citizens League to develop the 900+ page proposal, covering eight exemplary projects for our region.

In early 2013, CABY participants chose TSF by consensus to serve as the “hub” for proposal development, and to be the lead applicant for the proposal and therefore the fiscal manager for the projects once funds are awarded.  We were honored to take this on, because we know the importance of the IRWM body in planning and attracting state investment in this region.

This role allows us to build the capacity of communities and organizations, in direct pursuit of our mission “to increase and organize investment in the natural resources and communities of the Sierra Nevada.”

The full proposal was submitted to Department of Water Resources on March 28, and will be available on the CABY website soon.  Department of Water Resources expects to make award decisions by fall 2013.
