23 June 2011, NEVADA CITY – In addition to funding for updating their Integrated Regional Water Management Plan, CABY has been recommended for $3.1 million in implementation funding for 16 projects. Funded activities include water supply, conservation, and water use efficiency projects. Nevada City is the fiscal sponsor of this proposal, while CABY will oversee administration of the project activities. The Sierra Fund congratulates both CABY and the City on this accomplishment, bringing critically needed funding to our region.
CABY is a regional planning group for the Cosumnes, American, Bear and Yuba watersheds including nonprofits, local agencies and water purveyors in these areas. The Sierra Fund Science Director, Carrie Monohan, has served on the CABY Planning Committee since its inception, and more recently the Coordinating Committee.
DWR has recommended the CABY Implementation Grant for funding under Proposition 84 – Round 1. Proposition 84 Chapter 2 Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Grant Program, administered by DWR, provides funding for projects that assist local public agencies meet long term water needs of the state including the delivery of safe drinking water and the protection of water quality and the environment.
