On Thursday, March 25 the California-Nevada Conference of Operating Engineers formally endorsed Assembly Bill 2600, which would create a new state Conservancy to direct resources to the Sierra Nevada.
“This is truly an historic step for the state,” said Tim Cremins, Director of Education and Research for the Operating Engineers. The Conservancy “will be a benefit to the economy and jobs of the Sierra Cascade region.”
The endorsement by the Operating Engineers comes on the heels of a number of other endorsements for the legislation by such interests as the City of Nevada City, Friends of the River, the Truckee Donner Land Trust and the Planning and Conservation League.
