A benefit for the Sierra Nevada Alliance, Friends of Hope Valley and The Sierra Fund
Join acoustic guitar virtuoso Alex de Grassi at the Valhalla Grand Hal Thursday, March 13th for a solo guitar performance that Vintage Guitar Magazine calls “nothing short of brilliant.”
The concert is a benefit for the Sierra Nevada Alliance, Friends of Hope Valley and The Sierra Fund, all non-profit organizations working to protect the Sierra Nevada.
There are two tickets being offered for the evening, General Admission for $25 and a start time of 7:30 pm. VIP Evening tickets are $100 each, and include a pre-concert “Up Close and Personal” music & chat session with Alex, a signed CD and “watch the fingers” seating for the public performance.
Often cited as one of the world’s top fingerstyle, steel-string guitarists, Grammy nominee Alex de Grassi brings a unique voice to the art of acoustic guitar with his evocative compositions and arrangements, a highly-orchestrated sound, and sheer virtuosity. The Wall Street Journal has called his playing “flawless” and Billboard hails his “intricate finger-picking technique with an uncanny gift for melodic invention.” De Grassi’s trademark is an ability to create a highly orchestrated sound in his solo guitar music. His playing weaves together melody, counter-melody, bass, harmony, rhythm, and cross-rhythms creating a canvas of sound unheard of in a solo guitar performance. Using a broad palette of techniques and timbre, and driven by a unique sense of composition, his rich performances take the listener beyond the instrument.
There is limited parking at Valhalla, especially during winter. Shuttle service will be provided from the parking lot at the “Y”, near the League to Save Lake Tahoe’s Information Center & Store.
