The Sierra Fund is honored to share that the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund has announced a final gift in support of our work to address legacy mining issues.
Although the Goldman Fund is closing its doors, following the intention of founder Richard Goldman that the Fund cease operations after he passed away, farewell grants were provided to selected organizations. This final grant will provide much needed general support of our efforts to address California’s oldest and longest neglected environmental problem.
The Goldman Fund has long been a supporter of The Sierra Fund’s most visionary work. In addition to our Mining Initiative, which the Fund has supported since 2007, Goldman Fund provided key funding for The Sierra Fund’s original business plan, the Sierra Checkerboard Initiative, and the Sierra Nevada Conservancy Implementation Campaign. We sincerely thank the fund for these priceless opportunities to make a difference.
