The Sierra Fund is lucky to have a staff dedicated to serving the Sierra Nevada region. Get to know the staff! Meet Jenny Michael, our Office Administrator.

What is your favorite place in the Sierra Nevada and why?
There are so many favorites, but if I have to choose just one, it would be Yosemite National Park. Some of my most spectacular and magical camping and hiking experiences have happened there. Starting with a hike to Half Dome beneath a full moon for starters…
How long have you been working at The Sierra Fund, and how did you end up here?
I’ve been working at TSF since 2015. And during a time that I was looking for a new opportunity, a chance conversation with Izzy Martin, CEO 2006 to 2022, one day opened the door to working here. Lucky me!

Projects you’re working on that you’re most excited about?
My love for organization is borderline obsessive, lol. So, currently, I am taking on those types of projects at TSF that need that kind of obsession, and patience! For example, updating all our software and business accounts and reorganizing our tracking systems. Accomplishing this will make everyone’s life in the office easier, and that makes me super happy!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Spending time with family and friends, listening to music, taking long walks and hikes, reading, kayaking, and trips to the ocean whenever possible.
Anything else people should know about you?
I am super passionate about music (a bit of a nerd really), and have a radio program that I have been hosting bi-weekly for 30 years on community radio KVMR in Nevada City. When I’m not doing that, I seek out live music every chance I get. I’m also the proud Mom of my son Jake, a recent graduate of Sacramento State University, summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.
