LAND TRUSTS ENDORSE AB 2600

The campaign to pass legislation establishing a Sierra Nevada Conservancy received a boost today with the endorsement of five Land Trust organizations from within the Sierra region.

The five land trusts — Amador Land Trust, Eastern Sierra Land Trust, Truckee Donner Land Trust, Placer Land Trust and the Mountain Meadows Conservancy — represent significant areas of the Sierra and span the region from north to south, and east to west.

“The Sierra Conservancy provides an important new vehicle for increasing and coordinating state and federal investment in the Sierra Nevada,” said Perry Norris, Executive Director of one of the region's largest land trusts, in his endorsement of AB 2600.

“The time has come for the state to take a leadership role in protecting the Sierra,” urged Tony Taylor, the President of the Eastern Sierra Land Trust, in his organization's endorsement.

The endorsements bring to 25 the number of endorsements from local, state and national organizations working to protect and restore the Sierra.
