Nearly 100 representatives of business, environmental and community organizations will travel to Sacramento to urge legislators from around the state to support AB2600, the bi-partisan effort to create a Sierra Nevada Conservancy.
The second “Sierra Lobby Day,” hosted by The Sierra Fund, will take place on Wednesday, August 18 at the California State Capitol Building in Sacramento from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Citizen Lobbyists will enjoy an end of day reception with Conservancy authors John Laird (D-Santa Cruz) and Tim Leslie (R-Tahoe City). Special guest speaker includes Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi, himself a resident of the Sierra.
Citizen Lobbyists will be trained in lobbying techniques by Joan Clayburgh, the Executive Director of the Sierra Nevada Alliance, from 12:00 to 1:00. Lunch will be provided. Lobbyists will travel throughout the Capitol building in teams to meet with critical legislators and legislative staff members. At 5:00, The Sierra Fund is hosting a reception for Citizen Lobbyists at Chops Restaurant, with both authors and Insurance Commissioner Garamendi.
