The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Deer Creek Cleanup Project aims to investigate the lasting impacts of historic mining on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property along Deer Creek downstream of Nevada City. Mercury and other contaminants in mine tailings on the site are being assessed, and options for cleanup are being evaluated.
The Sierra Fund has provided local outreach and community involvement around this project.
