Local Water Stays Local was born when, in 2008, a group of concerned Shingletown residents organized around their concerns that a private landowner was applying for a permit to transport spring water from the Shingletown area. The group’s mission was to safeguard the availability of fresh water and clean air and to maintain the quality of life in their mountain town. The Sierra Fund serves as fiscal sponsor of Local Water Stays Local.
The group continues to advocate at local events and provide information about protecting local water resources.
