Environmental Assessment

The Sierra Fund’s science program, headed by Science Director Dr. Carrie Monohan, works to provide technical services to Sierra projects, to ensure that they have the capacity to produce top quality scientific results.

We have provided technical advice and assessment services to numerous environmental assessment projects, particularly those associated with historic mines.  We have assisted organizations with planning their project, finding technical resources, creating sampling plans, training staff and volunteers, and analyzing results.  We have also helped with on-the-ground sampling activities including water and soil sampling.

  • Water quality sampling in Spring and Shady Creeks
  • Advised development of SYRCL’s A 21st Century Assessment of the Yuba River Watershed (June 2010)
  • Assisted with development of the Cosumnes, American, Bear, Yuba (CABY) Integrated Regional Water Management Plan
