The Sierra Nevada-Cascade Conservation Grant Program is a competitive, region-specific program focusing on acquisitions of land and water rights to protect water quality in lakes, reservoirs, rivers, streams, and wetlands in the Sierra Nevada-Cascade Mountain Region. $15.8 million are currently available for grant awards.
These guidelines have been amended from the “draft” guidelines in a couple of significant ways. The grant guidelines no longer require a letter of support from a local government agency, but instead ask applicants to demonstrate how they are working with and informing local government about their proposed project. In addition, there is a 60 day period to apply, lengthened from their original proposal of only 45 days.
