Since 1993 the Sierra Nevada Alliance has been protecting Sierra lands, water, wildlife and rural communities. Over 90 organizations are members of this Alliance which works to build individual and group capacity to protect and restore the Sierra, while uniting groups and individuals to achieve regional change. The Sierra Nevada Alliance’s mission is to protect and restore the natural environment of the Sierra Nevada for future generations while ensuring healthy and sustainable communities.
The Alliance currently has 13 talented employees and a budget of over $1.5 annually. Major programs are the Sustainable Community Group Program which includes the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP): Sustainable Watersheds Program, Sustainable Land Use Program; and Sierra Water and Climate Change Campaign.

Position Description:
The Associate Director is responsible for working with the Executive Director to lead the organization’s programs. The Associate Director will be responsible for directing the financial administration of the organization, directing the Sierra Watersheds Program and Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership, and leading the organization’s foundation outreach.
The watersheds program, led by a Watersheds Program Director, inspires watershed collaboratives in underserved rural areas and supports new and existing watershed stewardship groups to assess, protect and restore the region’s twenty-four major watersheds. The SNAP program, lead by a SNAP Program Director, recruits and places twenty-seven AmeriCorps members with over eighteen partnering organizations and agencies to build their capacity to conduct environmental education, habitat monitoring and ecological restoration.
The Associate Director also recruits, trains, and supervises the program directors and office manager. They are responsible for providing a healthy work environment for their staff ensuring that their staff perform professionally and fulfill their staff responsibilities.
