Save our State Parks Campaign launched
CA State Parks Foundation has launched the “Save Our State Parks (SOS) Campaign” to fight the Governor’s proposal to close 48 state parks and take lifeguards off 16 state beaches. They have established a web site for the campaign: www.savestateparks.org, which has information about the proposals, talking points, 5 Things Individuals Can Do, 5 Things Organizations Can Do, and more.
State Parks Foundation is urging organizations to endorse the campaign. “There is no cost to endorse, only the agreement of your organization that the Governor’s proposal must be fought and state parks should be kept open for Californians to visit and enjoy,” notes Traci Verardo-Torres. Endorsers will receive information from the campaign regarding budget updates, regional campaign activities, and opportunities for more direct involvement in community, media, and legislative advocacy activities.
A partial list of current supporters is available on the site, and new endorsing organizations will be added to the list on the site, in materials for the Legislature and media, and more. An online endorsement form can be found at: http://www.savestateparks.org/joinus/.
